Moving away from paper and towards automation - with speed, team spirit and fun!

Anyone tackling the energy transition must themselves work efficiently; using future-proof logistics systems. So when the innovation-pros at sonnen needed someone on their side who thought and acted with the same agility they do, status c was there. Together, state-of-the-art technology was implemented in SAP: EWM plus add-ons.

Modern and future-oriented at every level.

A young company and one of the world's leading manufacturers of electricity storage systems for private households and small businesses, sonnen GmbH produces its intelligent storage systems from the acclaimed, bioenergy village of Wildpoldsried in Oberallgäu. This is state-of-the-art technology, locally rooted and internationally networked. But as the storage facility had to be as future-proof as its product range, it needed an upgrade as quickly as possible.

Innovation for innovators.

It’s summer, 2021: Society’s energy transition has arrived. Hundreds of thousands of households every year are opting for a PV system with electricity storage. sonnen's business is growing rapidly. The company has significantly expanded production and moved into its "Operations Center" — one of the largest production facilities for electricity storage in Europe. However, the need for optimization quickly becomes clear: Storage lifts are operated manually; without integration to the existing SAP system. Processes run on paper; a productivity brake with high error potential.

The leap to the next level had to be made quickly — and with an agile, EWM-experienced partner — to convert the warehouse system and integrate it into SAP EWM.

Connected intelligence and custom-fit products.

status c convinced sonnen not just with its in-house products, but their collective utility: Smarter together. Entire processes were completely rethought along the replacement of SAP IM and the implementation of EWM. status C connect:IT was used for lifts, and status C scan:IT for easier scanner handling.

Together with the customers, a lean and efficient warehouse concept, storage strategies, and a Kanban-for-production supply were developed. Agile development, unconventional and intelligent results — with the best user experience.

When energy comes from fun.

Nothing is more fun than moving forwards; so with good chemistry, the right pace, open thinking, and rapid knowledge transfer right from the start, perfectly fitting processes resulted, and both companies found themselves enjoying the ride.

Robert Hoffmann

Head of Logistics, sonnen

"status c is incredibly agile and flexible, and solutions were developed together throughout the process. The project team harmonized so well that our new EWM warehouse management was created in breathtaking speed."

Increased efficiency and continuous rethinking

With the changeover, sonnen’s warehouse processes have changed completely; becoming significantly more transparent and efficient. Much of what previously had to be pushed and controlled now runs automatically.

But a truly smart system has an effect not just on processes, but the way people work together. Thinking is gradually changing throughout the company: feedback is obtained on an ongoing basis. Processes are further optimized. People are fully attuned to future potential.
